Cetirizine Dihydrochloride is a second-generation antihistamine used to relieve allergy symptoms such as runny nose, sneezing, itchy eyes, and hives. It works by blocking histamine, a substance in the body that causes allergic reactions.
DRUG OF CHOICE FOR:
• Seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever)
• Perennial allergic rhinitis
• Chronic idopathic rhinitis
• Atopic dermatitis
• Conjunctivitis
• Pruritus
• Allergen induced asthma
DOSAGE:
• Cetirizine dihydrochloride (CTZ) is administered with or without food. The time of administration varies to suit individual patient needs.
• Adults & children over 6 years : 10mg daily or 5mg twice daily
• Children 2-6 years : 10mg daily or 5mg twice daily.
• Children under 2 years are not recommended
