AZO 500
(Azithromycin)

For the treatment of infections caused by susceptible organism, such as lower respiratory tract infections including bronchitis, pneunomia, skin and soft tissue infections otitismedia,typhoid fever and upper respiratory tract infections (Sinusitis, pharyngitis and tonsillitis).

DRUG OF CHOICE FOR:

• Acute Bronchitis
• Otitis Media
• Sinusitis
• Skin & Soft Tissue Infection

DOSAGE:

Adult: 500 mg once daily for 3 days or as an
alternative given over 5 days with 500 mg on
the day 1 then 250 mg on days 2-5.

Children over 6 month:
Below 15 kg,10 mg/kg/daily
15-25 kg/200 mg or 5 ml
25-35 kg/300 mg or 7.5 ml
35-45 kg/400 mg or 10 ml

 

CUSEF 500 / PFS
(Cefradine)

Cefradine (Cusef) is a first generation cephalosporin antibacterial for the treatment of susceptible infections including those of the respiratory and urinary tract and of the skin. Also useful in the prophylaxis of infections during surgical procedures.

DRUG OF CHOICE FOR:

• Acute Bronchitis
• Otitis Media
• Sinusitis
• Skin & Soft Tissue Infection

DOSAGE:

Cefradine (Cusef) is given orally in doses of 1-2g daily in 2-4 divided doses. Adults up to 4 g daily. The usual daily dose for children is 25-50 mg per kg bodyweight although 75-100 mg per kg daily maybe given for Otitis media. Dosage should be reduced in patients with severe renal failure.

OFEX 200 / 400 / PFS
(Cefixime)

For the treatment of infections due to sensitive Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria such as: Salmonella typhi, Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, Neisseria gonorrhoea, pneumonia, haemophilis influenza, streptococcus pyogenes, moraxella catarhalis.

DRUG OF CHOICE FOR:

• Salmonella typhi
• E-Coli
• Neisseria gonorrhoea
• Streptococcus pyogenes

DOSAGE:

Adult doses of 200 to 400 mg daily as a single dose or in two divided doses Children over 6 months & under 50 kg maybe given 8 mg/kg daily as a single dose or two divided doses or as prescribed by the physician.

DFX 500 / 700
(Ciprofloxacin)

For the treatment of severe infections of the urinary and gastrointestinal tracts including Campybacter jejuni,Shigella or Salmonella; susceptible sexually transmitted diseases, e.g.,gonococcal (including penicillin resistant) and non- Gonococcal (chlamydia) urethritis; osteomyelitis/septicemia, caused by Susceptible organism including bacteria resistant to beta-lactams; severe infections of the respiratory tract due to susceptible Gram-negative infections including Pseudomonas aeruginosa; treatment of multi drug-resistant tuberculosis in combination with other drugs; treatment of multi drug-resistant typhoid fever; post exposure prophylaxis for meningococcal diseases and anthrax in adults.

DOSAGE:

Adult: 250-750 mg twice daily

Children & Adolescents (1-17 years):

GI infections: 10-30 mg/kg/day in two divided doses

UTIs: 20-40 mg/kg/day in two divided doses
Or as directed by the physician.

STAXIM 250 / 500 / PFS (Cefuroxime Axetil)

Used in the treatment of susceptible infections including bone and joint infections, bronchitis (and other lower respiratory tract infections), gonorrhea, meningitis, otitis media, peritonitis, pharyngitis, sinusitis, skin infections (including soft tissue infections) and urinary tract infections. It is also used for surgical infection prophylaxis.

DRUG OF CHOICE FOR:

• Urinary Tract Infection in Men
• Urinary Tract Infection in Women
• Respiratory Tract Infection
• Prophylaxis

DOSAGE:

Adult: 250 mg twice daily

Children (3 months to 12 years): 20 mg/kg/day in two divided dose or as prescribed the Physician

OLCIN 750
(Levofloxacin)

Used in the treatment of a wide range of infections including anthrax, biliary-tract infections, infected bites & stings, bone & joint infections, brucellosis, cat scratch disease, chancroid, exacerbations of cystic fibrosis, gastroenteritis, gonorrhoea, infections in immunocompromised patients (neutropenia), legionnaire's disease, otitis externa, otitis media, peritonitis, Q fever, lower respiratory-tract infections, septicaemia, skin infections, spotted fever, typhoid and paratyphoid fever, typhus and urinary-tract infections. It is also used in chlamydial infections including non-gonococcal urethritis and in the treatment of mycobacterial infections such as leprosy and tuberculosis.

• Mycobacterial infections

• Pneumonia
• Urinary Tract Infection
• Bone and Join Infection

DOSAGE:

Usual doses range from 250 - 500 mg once or twice daily for 7 to 14 days depending on the severity and nature of the infection.

Acute sinusitis: 500 mg once daily for 10-14 days or 750 mg once daily for 5 days.

Acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis : 250-500 mg once daily for 7 days or 750 mg once daily for 3 days.

Community-acquired pneumonia: 500 mg once daily for 7-14 days or 750 mg once daily for 5 days.
Nosocomial pneumonia: 750 mg once daily for 7-14 days

Complicated urinary tract infections and acute pyelonephritis: 250 mg once daily for 7-10 days

Uncomplicated urinary tract infections: 250 mg once daily for 3 days.

Uncomplicated skin and soft tissue infections: 500 mg once daily for 7-10 days.

Complicated skin and soft tissue infections: 750 mg once daily for 7-14 days.

Chronic bacterial prostatitis: 500 mg once daily for 28 days. Or prescribed by the physician.
